Keynote speakers:

  • Dan Sanders, CEO of United Supermarkets, Ltd., the first supermarket to win the prestigious National Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. He is also cofounder of The Center for Corporate Culture, which coaches CEOs and their teams to build corporate cultures focused on leadership, ethics, wellness and execution. He has authored two books, Equipped to Lead, and Built to Serve. United Supermarkets has a 91-year record of accomplishment in passionate customer service despite razor-thin profit margins in the supermarket industry. The chain serves more than 1 million guests per week, and is sustained by a culture-driven, people-centered approach to business.
  • Rosabeth Moss Kanter holds the Ernest L. Arbuckle Professorship at Harvard Business School, where she specializes in strategy, innovation, and leadership for change. The former Editor of Harvard Business Review, Professor Kanter has been named to lists of the “50 most powerful women in the world” (Times of London), and the “50 most influential business thinkers in the world” (Accenture and Thinkers 50 research). She is the author or co-author of 18 books. Her latest book is SuperCorp: How Vanguard Companies Create Innovation, Profits, Growth, and Social Good, a manifesto for leadership of sustainable enterprises.

Thursday, April 22, 4:00: Come hear keynoter Mark Fields, Executive Vice President of Ford Motor Company, and President, The Americas region.  Fields was the primary architect of The Way Forward, Ford’s turnaround plan launched in 2006. It was this plan that enabled Ford to become the only domestic automaker to avoid a government bailout and gain market share through the recent recession. In addition to pulling Ford through the recession, Fields has been central to Ford’s commitment to sustainability, ranging from new compacts and hybrids to wheat-straw reinforced plastic soon to appear in its cars. In setting the tone for the conference, Fields will draw upon the leadership that has strengthened an iconic brand in the midst of the auto industry’s most challenging era. Ford’s success required tenacity, determination, and anticipation, all of which typify the leadership needed in our communities.
