• Spring 2012 President's Message

Dear LFW Members and Friends, The Fellows Dinner on March 8th was, by all early indications, our most successful ever, thanks to a super committee and wonderful cooperation from DFW Airport and American Airlines. We portrayed Jeff Fegan, CEO of the airport, as “The Most Interesting Man in the World” in song and skit. A new AA Boeing 737-800 was on display and some 550 people were treated to “The Most Entertaining Party of the Year.” Kick yourself silly if you missed it.

Leadership Class

Our Leadership Class addresses vital issues impacting Fort Worth by engaging established leaders in discussion and challenging them to make an impact. This nine month program brings together a diverse group of decision-makers from across the community who want to broaden their perspective about Fort Worth and use their resources to address identified needs.

The program features a series of topic oriented days, including health, economic development, government, education, arts & culture, human needs and transportation. Each month, participants focus on a topic area in-depth through

  • experiences at relevant program sites
  • active discussion with community experts in those areas
  • group processes designed to elicit participation from everyone – and that participants can implement in their own community work

During their program year, small groups of Leadership Class members work with community organizations to create new programs or solve problems. These Class Projects are a tangible way for the class to make an immediate, meaningful impact by connecting their resources and putting what they’ve learned during the program days into action.

Leadership Class participants:

  • are leaders in their chosen profession, most often at the “Director” level and above
  • have a record of achievement in community/civic activities
  • have demonstrated decision-making experience on a broad array of community boards/organizations OR have been involved in a non-profit organization for many years at a volunteer leadership level

As a result of the Leadership Class, participants are inspired to serve Fort Worth as community trustees by bringing their resources to bear for the good of the community and connecting with others to make that impact stronger.
