Leading Edge offers emerging leaders in their mid 20s to mid 30s an opportunity to strengthen leadership practices, create connections with community leaders and move beyond volunteerism into board service. During the six month program, participants
- identify leadership practices shared by community leaders and create a plan of action to strengthen those practices
- discover how to build successful, strong collaborations
- understand how to advocate for causes that they support
- learn how to be an effective non-profit board member
- connect with community leaders through class discussions and small group roundtables
As a catalyst to non-profit board service, participants have the option to participate in the Board Shadow Program. For one year following completion of Leading Edge, those who choose to are paired with a non-profit organization and serve as a non-voting “guest” on that board. Many non-profits in the Fort Worth community view the Leading Edge Board Shadow Program as a keyboard development strategy.
Leading Edge participants are:
- rising stars in their profession
- officers and members of young professionals organizations and alumni associations
- outstanding volunteers who aspire to non-profit board service
As a result of Leading Edge, participants have the relationships, leadership strengths and passion to become community trustees and make a stronger impact in Fort Worth.
